MONDAY - WEDNESDAY

10:00 a.m.– 3:30 p.m.

(museum opens at 9:30 a.m.;
closes at 5:00 p.m.)

*Mondays, the entire Law Building, Millennium Gallery, Lower Corridor/Tunnel, and Café Express will be open; vouchers will be distributed to Tut guests to return and visit other museum galleries on another day.

THURSDAY - SATURDAY

TIMED ENTRY

Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs is a timed-ticket exhibition.

When you purchase your tickets, you will be asked to choose a date and time you would like to see the exhibition.

Tickets are valid for single entry. No late entry permitted.

Exhibition tickets will be very popular and it is highly recommended that you pre-book your tickets in advance through www.kingtut.org.  Sessions will sell out, so click here to pre-register to purchase your tickets and avoid disappointment!

For planning purposes, school groups may visit at anytime, but the vast majority of school groups visit the museum from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. For more information about group tickets, click here.

After I order my tickets online, when will I get my tickets?

Will Call - Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your designated ticket time.  When picking up tickets, please be prepared to present your confirmation number/email, photo ID, and the credit card used to purchase the tickets.
USPS - Tickets will be received approximately 21 days prior to your scheduled visit.  
E-Ticket - E-Tickets will be received via a follow-up email approximately 14 days prior to your scheduled visit with your tickets attached.  (If you have purchased tickets within 14 days of your visit, you will receive your email with two hours).   Simply open the attachment, print the email and present it at the MFAH box office on the date/time you requested.

Hearing & visually impaired assistance

For guests who are hearing impaired, all audio components of the exhibition are captioned. For those who have purchased the audio tour, these are available with headphones or hearing loop to amplify the audio. For guests who are deaf, the audio tour transcript is available free of charge.
An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter can be arranged for public programs related to Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs at the MFAH with notice at least two weeks in advance.

For guests who are visually impaired, large-print versions of all exhibition label copy are available, as well as Braille versions of gallery panels. Complimentary audio guides are available at the audio guide desk in the queue for blind guests.
For guests with learning difficulties, or who are visually impaired, a “touch and feel” activity is available, led by a member of staff. Guests should request this when entering the exhibition, and it will be available for their use upon exit.

I.D is required to be left at the register if taking an additional audio or visual component to enhance the exhibition experience. This will be returned in exchange for the additional material upon exiting the galleries

Accessibility

Q: Is the exhibition accessible for disabled patrons?
A: Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs is located in the Caroline Weiss Law Building.  The entrance to the Law Building on Main Street is wheelchair accessible. Visitor drop-off and pick-up is possible in front of the Bissonnet entrance to the Law Building and at a covered passenger drop-off lane at the Main Street entrance to the Audrey Jones Beck Building.

Q: Are wheelchairs permitted inside the exhibition?
A: The Museum has wheelchairs that visitors may check out free of charge with a valid photo identification card. They are available from the bag and coat check rooms in both the Beck and Law Building lobbies and the Museum Visitor Center on a first-come, first-served basis. Motorized wheelchairs are permitted. Elevators are available throughout the museum.

General questions & answers

Q: May I use my mobile telephone while inside the exhibition?
A: The use of mobile telephones in any capacity (including camera or video) is not permitted in the King Tut Exhibition.

Q: May I sketch inside the exhibition?
A: Sketching is prohibited inside the exhibition in order to allow all guests equal opportunity to view the artifacts. Paper and pencils are allowed in the galleries, but not pens, provided any note taking does not hinder the movements of other guests or obscure the view of the artifacts.

Q: Are there restrooms inside the exhibition?
A: There are no restrooms in the exhibition; however there are a large number available for public use in the museum. Guests are able to obtain a washroom pass at the end of the exhibition in order to leave the galleries for this purpose. They may then turn this pass back in at the end of the exhibition in order to finish their gallery experience. Guests should be directed to staff in the last gallery for further direction or a pass.

Q: Is there a Gift Shop located at the Exhibition?
A: Yes, the official Exhibition Gift Shop is located at the exit of the Exhibition. You may also visit the Exhibition Gift Shop online at www.kingtut.org follow the link at the top of the page “Shop our store”. Guests of the exhibition, as well as non-ticketholders may visit the Exhibition Gift Shop. The Exhibition Gift Shop is the only place to obtain official exhibition merchandise.

Q: Is there a Bag and Coat Check?
A: For your convenience, you may check bags and coats in the lobbies of the Law and Beck Buildings.  Backpacks and large bags are not permitted within the galleries.

Q: Are strollers allowed in the exhibit?
A:  Single strollers are allowed in all galleries, including King Tut.  However, because of space constraints, double strollers are not permitted.
